Paddle the historic Voyageur canoe route through Ontario's Quetico Provincial Park — 4,700 km2 of Canadian Shield wilderness with over 2,000 lakes connected by portage trails worn smooth by 8,000 years of indigenous paddlers — following routes mapped by Ojibwe people for millennia and later used by the fur trade voyageurs. Multi-week canoe trips carry all food and camping equipment; fishing for walleye and lake trout provides supplemental calories. Moose, timber wolves, and black bears are resident; loon calls echo across the lakes every morning.
