Overview
The Northern Patagonian Ice Cap traverse is one of the last great blank spots in alpine adventure — a 100 km ski traverse across a roadless 4,000 km² plateau of ice, with no huts and no rescue infrastructure. Teams fly in by ski-equipped plane to the Monte San Valentín area and navigate crevassed plateau ice to reach Cochrane. Full expedition planning required; weather windows are brief and infrequent.
