Overview

Walk the Landmannalaugar circuit in Iceland's Fjallabak Nature Reserve — a 4-day loop through the most colourful mountains in Europe, with rhyolite ridges glowing in red, yellow, green, and purple, obsidian lava fields that crunch underfoot, and natural hot spring streams perfect for end-of-day soaking. The circuit is shorter than the full Laugavegur trail and allows return to the starting campsite with its geothermal pools. July is the prime month; August brings less daylight.
