Walk through Ruaha National Park — Tanzania's second-largest national park after Nyerere and one of Africa's best-kept safari secrets — with experienced walking guides through habitats that support the largest elephant population in East Africa. The Great Ruaha River provides a corridor for concentrated wildlife during the dry season; crocodile, hippo, lion, and wild dog are all reliably seen. Ruaha sees a fraction of the tourists of the Northern Circuit parks; the experience is intimate and unfiltered. The Miombo woodland ecosystem is distinct from the better-known savanna reserves.
