Overview
Climb Africa's highest peak via the Machame Route — the most scenic of Kilimanjaro's seven established trails — over 7 days. The route passes through five distinct vegetation zones from tropical rainforest to arctic summit plateau at 5,895 m. The Lava Tower detour at 4,600 m is key to acclimatisation; the Barranco Wall involves hands-on scrambling above 3,900 m. Summit night begins at midnight; the final push to Stella Point and Uhuru Peak takes 6-8 hours. Approximately 65% of Machame climbers reach the summit.
