Argentina Gaucho Horse Trek — Mendoza Wine Country

Overview

Ride into the Andes foothills above Mendoza with gauchos who manage estancias that have operated for over a century. The multi-day ride passes through wine country vineyards at altitude, then climbs into montane scrubland and river valleys below the snow-capped Cordillera. Nights are spent in mountain camps or stone shepherd huts; gaucho-cooked asado over an open fire is the evening ritual. Riders should be comfortable with fast-paced trail riding; the horses are working ranch animals with independent temperaments.
