Overview
The Fishermen's Trail section of the Rota Vicentina follows the southwest corner of Portugal — Europe's last great wild coast — hugging Atlantic cliffs from Porto Covo to Sagres for 120 km. The route navigates beaches accessible only on foot, clifftop paths between nesting stork colonies, and fishing villages with no tourism infrastructure beyond a single guesthouse. The Alentejo and Algarve sections are walkable year-round; spring brings wildflower meadows with orchids and cistus in bloom.
