Overview
The Chapada Diamantina is a highland plateau of table mountains, waterfalls, and caves in the Bahia interior that served as the setting for the Brazilian diamond rush. Fumaca Falls drops 340 metres into an abyss and is one of Brazil's highest, while Poco Encantado enchanted well glows turquoise in morning light when the sun enters the cave. The highland trails through cerrado vegetation connect a series of natural wonders in compact sequence.
