Overview
The Three Capes Track on the Tasman Peninsula is one of Australia's newest and most dramatic coastal hikes, with dolerite sea cliffs rising 300 metres from the Tasman Sea as the highest sea cliffs in the Southern Hemisphere. The 48-kilometre route walks out to Cape Pillar and Cape Hauy — Cape Raoul, the third cape, stays a silhouette across Maingon Bay and is reached only on a separate day walk from Stormlea — in a four-day journey through old-growth eucalyptus forest and bare dolerite headlands with nesting white-bellied sea eagles. Stylish private huts replace standard bushwalking camps.
