The limestone karst seascapes of Phang Nga Bay and the Ang Thong Marine National Park near Ko Samui offer world-class sea kayaking through sea caves accessible only at certain tide conditions, into hidden hongs or lagoons completely enclosed by karst walls where ecosystems evolve in isolation. Phang Nga Bay's James Bond Island has become over-visited by longtail boats, but the adjacent caves of Tham Lod and the Khao Tapu area remain accessible by kayak before tourist season crowds arrive.
