Overview

The Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia is the world's largest salt flat at 10,582 square kilometres, sitting at 3,656 metres on the Altiplano and creating a mirror reflection of the sky in the wet season that makes the horizon disappear. The surrounding Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve holds the perfect cone of Licancabur volcano, the blood-red flamingo lake of Laguna Colorada, and the steaming Sol de Manana geysers at 4,850 metres. This is one of South America's most extraordinary landscapes.
