Overview
Bhutan's eastern dzong trail connects the fortress monasteries of Trongsa, Bumthang, and the remote Mongar district through valleys that very few international visitors reach. The Bumthang Cultural Trek passes through the Ura Valley with its unique Ura festival and the Kurjey Lhakhang monastery where Guru Rinpoche meditated. Bhutan's Gross National Happiness philosophy is most visible in these eastern villages where mobile phone coverage is non-existent.
