Overview

The Dolomiti Superski pass unlocks twelve linked areas and roughly 1,200 kilometres of groomed pistes beneath pale rock walls that burn pink at dusk in the enrosadira glow. The classic day is the Sella Ronda: a 40-kilometre lift-and-piste circuit right around the Sella massif, doable in either direction by a confident intermediate in about six hours. Base yourself in Corvara or Arabba and add the Marmolada -- the range's highest skiing at 3,342 metres -- for the long Bellunese descent, and the Lagazuoi run past frozen waterfalls to its famous horse-drawn ski tow. Start the Sella Ronda by 9.30am or the last connections home get tense; carry the circuit map and watch the lift closing times. January brings the coldest, quietest weeks; March adds long lunches on rifugio sun terraces -- Alta Badia's Ladin kitchens are half the reason to come. A week runs about 2,500 pounds with half-board hotel, the (roughly 340 pound) pass and hire kit. Book Christmas and February half-term a season ahead.
